Hello,

I am on Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 which comes with sane 1.0.19. I have the
Epson Stylus Photo PX700W (European model of the Artisan 700), which is
connected to the network via WiFi.

I installed iscan 2.19.2-1 (it's the one which is supposed to have the
udev error fixed) from the avasys website but not only does it not
support network scanning, but also when the printer is connected locally
via USB it gives me the "Could not send command to scanner" error.

So, as I already had the epkowa driver installed, I tried Xsane. When it
started and detected the scanner, not over USB, but over the network (as
Artisan:ip.ad.dr.ess), my jaw promptly dropped to the floor. Of course,
it doesn't work.

Trying to aqcuire a preview results in an immediate I/O error. Trying a
scan, the scanner normally "lights up", but I still get an I/O error.
Once the scanning head actually moved for a bit, but then I got the I/O
error and the scanner started blinking all the lights at me and had to
be turned off to restore normal operation.

The supported devices page doesn't list it as supported. So, should it
work? Will installing sane 1.0.20 make a difference?

Scanning from this device over WiFi is heaven for me; I'll be more than
happy to help get it supported with testing and everything. Not a
programmer, sorry, but advanced enough to help if someone tells me what
to do.

Thanks,

Dominik
