Hi Georg,

thanks for the log, this is a known and fixed bug. Either use sane
1.0.19 or git, any commit after 2009-06-03. You can also try to only
patch commit a0ea955e91837156d2112c0ffd12c8afebe86efa into your local
copy. The latter two solutions require to recompile sane-backends.
