Hello Pierre,

Thank you all very much for your help.

I was yesterday already tempted to perform the downgrade to 1.0.19, but
... being pretty new to Linux (Ubuntu) I am still hesitant to listen to
my common sense.

Anyway, I downgraded to 1.0.19 and my scanner works perfect again.
