Hallo All,

I have your e-mail address from the SANE project and from the top of the
GENESYS driver for Linux.

I need your help: Do you know who is continuing the genesys driver
project for linux?

Here is the problem: I bought an HP-G4050 scanner. I know this is not
supported by sane. I found out that the scanner has a GL843 control
chip. In my opinion it might be very similar to the GL841 chip which the
genesys driver is written for. I was googling a lot of in the Internet.
I found a specification for the GL843 chip. But I am not a programmer
and the genesys driver is to complex for me. I was also not able to fake
the scanimage to use the genesys driver, because the driver has
restrictions in itself (see genesys_devices.c).
I am really sitting here waisting my time with testing. Can somebody
help me with this issue or with some info regarding it?

I like also to help a little (where I can). In my opinion it is
mandatory to have a driver for this scanner, because it is a very common
one. They are all working with Windows or Apple computers, but Linux is
not supported -> It is a shame!

Best regards

Andreas Klafft, Germany

PS: If you see a chance to make it in a reasonable time, tell me, ask me
for my support, please or forward this e-mail to somebody who can give
more info.
