Hello, Gaspar!

The support of the scanner was added only based on the assumption that
is's more or less similar to HP 5590/5550 models. In the other words,
I haven't tested it on real hardware. Now it's time to do that ;)

The confirmation error is rather strange - haven't seen that before.
However, the error sane-find-scanner reports doesn't always means that
you couldn't use the scanner at all - the utility serves only
diagnostic purposes.

At least, the error explains why sane-find-scanner reported no devices.

Could you, please, try to scan eg. using scanimage with backend debug
enabled? The command
SANE_DEBUG_HP5590=50 scanimage 1>img.pnm 2>hp5590.log
will do that, you will get the debug information in hp5590.log and
resulting image in img.pnm.
