     Hello,

     I eventually found time to decode the logs you sent. The Canoscan 
8400F is a GL843 based scanner like the 4400F. I have started to work on 
4400F support which bears some similarity to your scanner in logs. Since 
I haven't none of those, it will be a long and complicated task to bring 
full support for them. For now I am trying to generate correct registers 
settings on a mock device. When done, I'll commit so it can be tested by 
people having real hardware.
