The driver etc are installed by YaST when brscan and brscan-skey rpms
are downloaded from brothers website and installed. Same for the Cups
and lpr for the printer. I manually enter the The ATTR info into
/etc/udev/rules.d/55--libsane.rules
CODE
-----------
# Brother MFC-J6710DW
ATTR(idVendor)=="04f9", ATTR{idProduct)=="0263", MODE="0664",
GROUP-"lp", ENV(libsane_matched)="yes"
----------
and in /etc/sane.d/ dll.conf
CODE
----------
#umax1220u
#v4l
#xerox_mfp

brother4
----------
Also from YaST2
CODE
----------

This install is very simular to the epkowa (Epson) devices. It was
working with the 3.11.1-3(12.3) kernel and also with 3.11.1-3 (13.1).
It broke after update to 13.1 release and kde 4.11.2. I know there was
an update to libksane) at that time. I just noticed there is another
update the appeared in the last several days, don't know if I should try
that.
The rpm install packages from Brother are located at:
Code
----------
http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public_s/id/linux/en/index.html
----------
use the brscan4 rpm for this usb printer.

Thanks for your response. I'll try a few others Like change the name of
the printer.
