Hi list,

Here comes yet another newbie with a request for help installing their
scanner. Mine is a used Philips MFD 6020 which I am trying to install
under Mac OS 10.6.8. The printer works, the scanner does not: The
frontend doesn't show any devices in the list.

Although the scanner is not listed among the devices supported by
SANE, the the manufacturer's instructions say to install the TWAIN
SANE Interface for Mac OS X and then the drivers in the package
downloaded from their homepage. This I did, and since it didn't work,
I first had a look at the TWAIN SANE Frequently Asked Questions, and
from there went on to read the documentation on the SANE website.

It looks like my scanner is detected, but the SANE backend may not be
configured correctly for my printer. Unfortunately, I don't know what
backend my printer is supposed to use, so I'm stuck. Here is the
output from the Terminal in Mac OS:

$ sane-find-scanner
[...]
found USB scanner (vendor=0x079b [MFPrinter], product=0x0093 [ Laser
Pro LL2 1]) at libusb:001:003-079b-0093-00-00
[...]

$ scanimage -L
No scanners were identified.
[...]

Can anyone help? Where do I go from here?

Thanks,
- MR
