Yes, that would probably be me. Some 10 years ago I bought such a
scanner with a slide extension and reverse-engineered the protocol to
make it work.  Unfortunatly that scanner broke a long time ago and I no
longer have it.

I do remember this code working at the time though.

I'm don't remember why this is in a seperate repo, seems a little
pointless. I think it was created to help with the collaboration when
the driver did not work yet, perhaps it should be removed entirely
after a final merge upstream.
