Hi Stef,

That gave me the pointer I needed. I softlinked like this, like the man page says:

/usr/local/lib/sane/libsane.so@ -> ./libsane-genesys.so.1

then I looked at your message then looked in /usr/local/etc/sane.d/dll.conf
and commented everything apart from the one I wanted, then ran scanimage -L
which gave:

device `genesys:libusb:/dev/usb:/dev/ugen4.4' is a Canon LiDE 110 flatbed scanner

Then I tried xscanner which worked, then the link in gimp 2.6 and now I'm
a happy bunny :D
