[sane-devel] scanimage can't open my scanner

I'm having issues getting a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 working on ubuntu.
It recognizes the device in gscan2pdf, however when I select it I get
this error message:

open of device fujitsu:ScanSnap S1500:328443 failed: Invalid argument
[gphoto2] init_gphoto2: error: serial:/dev/ttyd1 is not a valid gphoto2
port. Use "gphoto2 --list-ports" for list.

I contacted the author of gscan2pdf, Jeffrey, and he tried helping me
best as he could.
He says,

"Well - neither the perl bindings for SANE, nor scanimage could
access the scanner. It should work:

http://www.sane-project.org/cgi-bin/driver.pl?manu=fujitsu&model=scansnap&bus=any&v=&p

It might be worth asking on the SANE mailing list

http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/sane-devel

Until you can get scanimage to open it, you won't get far with
gscan2pdf, unfortunately."

So here i am contacting the SANE mailing list. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
