I does indeed have a scan-to-email function.

I personally find scan-to-email one of the most cumbersome workflows
ever. Especially if you don't run a mail server on your network. I
don't want to open a mail program, extract the file and import it in
the application. Such a workflow seems very convoluted.

It would be optimal if (at least the guys sitting close to the
scanner) could just use any SANE frontend, specify the settings and
scan directly into the application. That's how we imagine the
optimal workflow.

Until we find a way to connect the scanner to SANE our current
workaround is to specify the scan settings on the device itself and
save the image on an SMB share (which is also supported).

I don't know the Kyocera PPD file details and the direct PDF
printing status. I just know that the printer works for all our
intents and purposes.
