As at 24th April 2015, the Canon Pixma MG5600 series is reported
as untested.<br>

I built and installed sane-backends from git repository as at
20150424 (commit f6896e0de481fad5c63bf7ffc271aca89b9cbb01) and
successfully performed scanning via USB connection for a Canon
Pixma MG5650 on Ubuntu Linux.<br>

Tested scanner by installing 'simple scan' application on Ubuntu.
Previously, using the sane-backends debian package from the Ubuntu
repositories (sane-backends 1.0.23-3ubuntu3.1), 'simple-scan' did
not detect the scanner. After building sane-backends, simple-scan
detected scanner as 'CANON Canon PIXMA MG5600 Series'.
Successfully scanned images at 150dpi grayscale and 300dpi, 600dpi
and 1200 dpi color.<br>
