<html><head></head><body bgcolor="#ffffff" text="#2e3436" link="#2a76c6" vlink="#2e3436"><div>Hello everybody,</div><div><br></div><div>my HP scanjet 7400c worked nicely over many years with ubuntu.</div><div>Now, for no reason I can see, it starts to throw I/O errors - the same on the desktop with ubuntu 16.10 and the laptop 16.04. - I suspect, it might be a hardware issue, but would be grateful for experts' hints before I trash the device.</div><div><br></div><div>"scanimage -L" takes something like 20sec to provide a result, and scanning by "scanimage >test.pwm" takes around a minute to create any reaction, usually then it stops. All USB devices will be blocked then, I only can reboot the machine.</div><div>On terminal, I can read "scanimage: sane_read: Error during device I/O". In these cases, a 0byte file is written.
