this way of developing a feature request has been discussed before. at 
the time some people thought it would be benefitial(sp?) to discuss the 
idea on the mail list, before sending it in to the site.
i have seen no arguments as to why it would be better to send ideas 
directly to the site, bypassing the discussion.

please somebody, put such thoughts forward. otherwise i will continue to 
use this mail list as a place for discussing ideas before submitting 
them to the site.
