[Shootout-list] Compiled/Interpreted/JIT

I've been asked to provide implementations of my ray tracer in a compiled, an 
interpreted and a JIT compiled language. However, I'm not sure how the 
languages are classified.

For example, the OCaml top-level JIT compiles to interpreted byte-code, so how 
is it classified?
