Quite interesting, but may be unsuitable for the upcoming contest:

Penguin Board and Cherry Blossom both has max. ½GB RAM which makes it
unlikely to work with Beaker Notebook. The main feature of Beaker
Notebook is its ability to combine multiple interpreted languages which
takes a toll on memory. Switching to the simpler iPython Notebook is
more likely to work on such low memory boards, but a) may affect
sponsorships from Two Sigma, b) requires someone to write sample data
processing targeted that alternative environment, and documentation more
generally as well.

Both seem to be only boards, not boxes. Beware if considering DIY
3D-printed boxes to include the time not only in designing and testing
the shape of such casing but also the time and cost of actually print
100s of them.

I suspect prices may not really be as dramaticly different as presented
in the article: Prices compared has quite different specs. I also
wonder if those boards really are for sale yet, or only in an early
marketing phase yet: Would be interesting to have links to actual web
shops selling those devices.

Links to more info - including shops having them on store - would be
appreciated. Not only for this project but also e.g. FreedomBox.
