<a href = "http://wiki.debian.org/Mole">Mole</a>, an effort headed by
Jeroen van Wolffelaar, has the aim to provide a central location where
information about packages and other Debian-related information (such
as bugs or mirrors) can be stored. During the GSoC, Jeroen worked
hard to get the basic infrastructure in place. It's now possible for
other efforts, in particularly QA efforts such as lintian and archive
rebuilds, to add information to the Mole database. There is also <a
href = "http://qa.debian.org/cgi-bin/mole">a web interface</a> through
which this information can be queried.

As a demonstration, Jeroen created a page showing the <a href =
"http://merkel.debian.org/~jeroen/mirrorstatus.html">status of Debian
mirrors</a>. The page shows the reachability and freshness of all
mirrors. Reachability shows the percentage of times the script was
able to contact a mirror to obtain information as to when the mirror
was last updated. Freshness shows how old the contents of a mirror
relative to the official Debian archive.

Mole has enough functionality now that Jeroen is interested in working
with various QA efforts that are interested in using Mole to store and
process information. Based on their requirements, Mole can be further
refined and developed.
