mentors make me think that they agree with (E). I think that the
situation should really be clarified. If the project as a whole prefer
(D) or (E), then we should make sure that we get the best applicants,
and that nobody is feeling that they should not apply because they are
DD/DMs.  And of course, we should make sure that the project as a whole
agrees that it's fine to pay DD/DMs to work on Debian using GSOC.

Well, I'm only talking about a poll, not a formal vote (as in, GR).
Stefano Zacchiroli developed the infrastructure (based on devotee) to
run informal polls during last debconf, so it would be quite simple to
use that.
