Hi,

here's a project idea from me: a test suite for dak, the software
managing the Debian archive. I wanted to work on it for some time, but
never got to it.

Description:
The software managing Debian's archive (ftp.debian.org) currently has
no test suite. This means there is no automated way to check that
  changes don't introduce regressions.

The goal of this project is to develop a framework for running tests
and implementing such tests. To make sure tests are repeatable, they
should be run in a clean installation. So automatically setting up an
installation might also be a required part of the project.

Mentor:
I would mentor this project, but am not sure how much time I will
  have this summer.

Contact:
  mail: ansgar at debian.org
        debian-dak at lists.debian.org
irc: ansgar on OFTC or freenode
        #debian-ftp on OFTC

Desirable skills:
  - Python, PostgreSQL
  - Creating Debian packages
  - You might want to try installing dak, see setup/README in [1].
