file-rc is a package that provides a sysv-rc interface and replaces<br>
the runlevel startup links with a single configuration file<br>
/etc/runlevel.conf.<br>

Unfortunately, file-rc does raise some issues with splashy or<br>
vice-versa: When file-rc is installed, splashy's progress bar stays at<br>
zero, and the text box that can be invoked with F2 stays empty. The<br>
system boots fine though.<br>

In a test VM that I installed to investigate this, splashy also<br>
doesn't terminate nicely when file-rc is installed, and the kdm screen<br>
never comes up. After removing file-rc, things were fine again.<br>
<br>
I do not know whether file-rc needs modifications to interface better<br>
with splashy, or whether splashy interprets hints from file-rc in the<br>
wrong way. So please feel free to (clone and) reassign to file-rc, and<br>
- if necessary - give directions to the file-rc maintainer which hints<br>
it needs to give to splashy to properly work.<br>
