Subject: Bug#231939: surfraw: swhois URL location has changed
Date: Mon, 09 Feb 2004 11:03:28 -0800

Package: surfraw
Version: 1.0.7-3.1
Severity: normal

The URL for the swhois query has changed to:

    http://www.geektools.com/whois.php

Unfortunately, the system now uses a "captcha" style circumvention of
automated queries (a distorted graphical key is shown which must be
entered in the dialog), preventing automated queries.

Another search service should be used (a few minutes with Google hasn't
turned up any with global coverage), or this elvi dropped altogether.

Several other command-line WHOIS query tools exist, perhaps a wrapper to
present this information as a web page might be used?
