<div dir="ltr">Hello,<br>
<br>
Thanks for the acknowledgement.
<div><br>
</div>
<div>I had some points on which I wanted your views and
clarification.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>1. TuxType and TuxMath is written in C and make use of SDL
and the games has been ported well to various platforms
including the Raspberry Pi as well. But unavailability of
those games in the app stores and in the form of web app
reduces the number of users as most people prefer to download
games from app stores or play them online.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>2. I would want the future developers to concentrate more
on enhancing the game design and gameplay and adding on new
levels to the game instead of porting it to various platforms
so I want to create a single code base that can target
multiple platforms.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>3. Along with developing an end user application I would
want to create a generic framework that the game itself uses
which can be used by amateur developers or teachers to create
more levels and customize the game as per their wishes. A
proper documentation of the same would also be there.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>So for achieving the above three mentioned points
developing an HTML5 game using Phaser or Quintus would be a
better choice as such games could be easily published in the
form of a web app as well as published to various app stores
and mupltiple platfroms could be targeted. Moreover
teachers/amateur developers working with the generic framework
would be more comfortable to work with JavaScript.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Phaser+ Cordova would definitely be power hungry and old
devices having GPUs in which WebGL is not stable would create
problems. We can use Cocoon.js as it at times gives better
performance than a Cordova/Crosswalk build app . Moreover some
devices have issues with the Crosswalk webview as well and
that has to be dealt with.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>To get better performance we can build this game using
Unity and Cocos2D but I don't know much about whether using
Unity would be acceptable for a GSOC Project. Unity would be a
good choice as far performance and portability is concerned
and I'm highly proficient with that too but as per me a game
made using HTML5 game frameworks would do more justice to the
objectives I want to achieve.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>One more thing could be done as of what I can think now.
Since I want to build a more generic game, we can create a
list of devices that we would want to target and divide them
into categories based on similar specifications and test run
the hybrid app in a few of them. Based on the performance we
could opt some of the features and graphics out for that group
of devices. For the desktop and web version all the features
shall work fine.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Ques : Do I need to specifically work on the idea of Tux
Mind Math or can I club in several idea together i.e TuxType
and TuxMath in as well as it would create a more generic game.
Since I'm putting a little more focus on the web app by doing
this we'll get games like TuxType and TuxMath too available
online and since it would have a better UI/UX and gameplay it
would be preferred by the kids.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Would in this case the organisation have some priority for
selecting a specific idea they have proposed over an idea
which add other features to it as well?</div>
<div><br>
</div>

This is a thoughtful and well-written proposal. Nicely
done.<br>

I don't have any specific feedback except that
phaser+cordova could be quite power-hungry; we would want
to make sure the framerate is acceptable on older devices.<br>
