I tried cloning the tux4kids using the terminal and following the<br>
doc/INSTALL but still i'm running into problems. i also installed<br>
libsdl_ttf using wget and alien but still then ./configure<br>
--without-libsdlpango --without-rsvg gives<br>
<br>
checking for TTF_Init in -lSDL_ttf... no<br>
configure: error: SDL_ttf not found! <a href="http://www.libsdl.org/projects/SDL_ttf" target="_blank">http://www.libsdl.org/projects/SDL_ttf</a><br>
<br>
Please help.<br>

You don't say what OS/distribution use, for debian or any debian based<br>
distro like ubuntu, you could take advantage from apt-get build-dep that<br>
will install the needed dependencies to build a package.<br>
i.e. apt-get build-dep tuxtype<br>
<br>
It will install what is needed to build the version on the distribution,<br>
maybe there are new dependencies in the git version but I hope they<br>
would be minimal.<br>

I believe they are different things, at least in tuxpaint we use both,<br>
SDL_EnableUNICODE and IM.<br>
