 You mention *installation*, but the message you quote indicates a
 removal; this is strange.  Did you paste the message you intended to
 paste?

 Could you please add "set -x" to the start of /etc/init.d/dmraid and run
 "invoke-rc.d dmraid stop" and "start" again?  Please report the output.
