essential commandments a Jew is to observe on Succot. One is to
dwell in a Succah and the other involves binding four species
together. The Succah is a temporary dwelling that a Jew makes with a
bamboo roof and it signifies because of its flimsy structure, how volatile
life can be. And that a Jew must place his faith and trust in G-d
for his future.<BR><BR> One of the famous midrashim in connection to
Succot, compares the four species to the unity of Israel: "Just as the
Etrog has both taste and smell, so too do the Jewish People have within it
people who have Torah and good <BR>deeds: Lulav...has taste and no smell,
and so too there are those who have Torah and no good deeds...Just as the
Hadas has smell and no taste...(there are those) with good deeds and no
Torah...Just as the "Arava" has no smell and no taste, so (there are
those) who have no Torah and no good deeds. And what does the Almighty do
to them? To destroy them would be impossible! But rather the Almighty said
that he will tie them all up in one unit and they will atone for one
another". (Vayikra Raba, 30:12) <BR><BR>Rabbi Benyamin Kahane gave
the following explanation to this midrash. </FONT>
<P><FONT face=Verdana size=2><EM>Considering our opening statements, there
is a need for some clarification in light of this amazing midrash which
mentions how the Aravot are held tightly together with the rest of Am
Yisrael.</EM></FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana size=2><EM>The worst kind of Jew spoken of here is
the Arava, who is not destroyed, because the righteous atone for him. They
are Jews "who have no Torah and no good deeds". True, we are not talking
about the cream of the crop - but we are talking about Jews who are ready
to be part of the union of Am Yisrael, connected to them so that the
righteous can atone for them. We are not talking about Jews, who G-d
forbid, sever themselves from the collective and detest their own
Jewishness. We are not discussing Jews who the sages spoke of when they
said that in the days of Messiah, there will be Jews who will identify
with and join forces with the enemy. About such Jews, the above midrash
does not speak. On the contrary. The idea of the midrash is two-fold. On
one hand, G-d does not desire to see the wicked of Israel destroyed. On
the other hand, we are talking about only those who are willing to join
part of Klal Yisrael. Only he merits this special atonement, reserved for
one who feels belonging to the collective of the Jewish
Nation.</EM></FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana size=2><EM> </EM>Sadly, many
assimilated Jews are supporting the anti Jewish/Israel International
Conference to be held at York University in June. From the
Jew-Haters' conference web site: <A href="http://www.yorku.ca/ipconf/"
target=_blank rel=nofollow><SPAN
style="COLOR: #3b5998">http://www.yorku.ca/ipconf/</SPAN></A><BR><BR><STRONG>"The
purpose of this conference is to explore whether a two-state solution or a
single constitutional democracy in Israel/Palestine offers the most
promising path to future peace and security in the region."
</STRONG></FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana size=2><STRONG> </STRONG>The
selective use of the term "a single constitutional democracy" is a
deliberate attempt to deflect the goal of ending the Jewish State in the
Middle East. The Jewish Defence League will mobilize the Jewish
Community to oppose this outrage. We will lead a campaign to
boycott, divest and call for sanctions against York University. Two
weeks ago, I sent out a letter to the President of York
University asking for a meeting to discuss this outrage. There
was no reply. We will initiate a picket after the Jewish holidays as
a first step. We will also engage in a campaign of contacting
individual donors, corporations and foundations to York U. The
purpose will be to educate them about this hatefest. We need people
to volunteer for our York U contact unit. Polite phone calls
and emails must be made. The donor list is provided from York U's

target=_blank rel=nofollow><SPAN style="COLOR: #990000">leadership
donors</SPAN></A> to the York to the Power of 50 Campaign.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana size=2> The reason why it is
important to confront this conference now, is because the goal of the
conference is to serve as an example for other educational centers in
North America. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana size=2> The most active anti
Jewish/Israel group in Toronto in public supports "a single constitutional
democracy". However, on there web site, they make there objectives
clear: </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana size=2><STRONG><EM>"1. Calling upon all the Jews in
Israel to de-colonize Palestine, thus dismantling the Zionist project from
within."</EM></STRONG></FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana size=2><STRONG><EM>"2. Setting up a network of
action groups/offices all over Europe, the US, Asia, Africa, and even the
Arab World, to help Israeli Jews in decolonization and to integrate them
back into their original societies."</EM></STRONG></FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana size=2><STRONG><EM>"3. Calling upon the Israeli Jews
to burn the Israeli citizenship documents and declare themselves
non-Israeli, thus materially detaching themselves from Zionism and its
horrific profoundly unjust manifestations."</EM></STRONG></FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana size=2><STRONG><EM>"4. Calling upon Israeli Jews not
to turn toward the pseudo-progressive formula of a 'single democratic
bi-national state' in Palestine but to consider breaking that settler bond
with Palestine totally and completely, relocating elsewhere. Emigration
from the Israeli state should become a major focus for the concrete
overcoming of Zionism."</EM></STRONG></FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana size=2><STRONG> Join the JDL
to expose and defeat this hate! We require local active support and
world wide support from Jews and decent Gentiles. Give now to the

<P><FONT face=Verdana size=2><STRONG> </STRONG>The
main Jewish Student group Hillel, issued a statement at a recent public
forum in Toronto, that the best way for Jewish Students to respond
to the hatred is to have meetings with the Muslim Student
Associations. According to Front Page Magazine, "both agencies
(Homeland Security and the F.B.I.) have the 1991 Muslim Brotherhood
memorandum in which the MSA is named as part of the Brotherhood's "grand
jihad" aimed at "eliminating and destroying Western civilization from
within and sabotaging its miserable house" so that "Allah's religion
reigns supreme over other religions." </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana size=2> <STRONG>Appeasement
has never worked, direct legal confrontation will work. Join JDL now
before it is too late.</STRONG></FONT></P></DIV></DIV>
