Hmmm.  You are of course free to seek solutions elsewhere, but I suspect 
that the problem you've experienced really isn't tied to the version of 
the kernel, but rather to the version of yaird used when that kernel was 
installed.

I suggest you try reconfigure your older kernel to have the ramdisk 
regenerated using your currently installed (and, I assume, more recent) 
yaird.

We appreciate it if you report back any further info on this, as others 
might benefit from this too :-)
