Good morning all
The following is a short summary of my point of you. If anything isn't correct
or you wanna add something, don't hesitate.
The best thing of the last IRC meeting is the case that we're now more people
who are interested in the port of yast2 to debian. Our team has nothing less
than doubled (from 4 to 8 persons).
Additionally there evolved something like working groups:
- a package group
- a port group
- a documentation group
whereas this doesn't mean that you are allowed to work only in one group ;-).
Further we concluded in the usage of YaST2 in the version 10.x.
The next steps in our work are the following:
- Upload the yast2 source code, the patches and the other work into our new
SVN repository (svn+ssh://user@svn.debian.org/svn/yast4debian/) (calendar
weeks 45 and 46)
- Work on the (new) code to get it compiling (calendar weeks 47-49)
- Create first debian packages and upload them to experimental (calendar weeks
49-50)
The time estimations are estimations only. So if you are ready sooner that
would be hardly acceptable ;-).
And here are some further possible milestones:
- debian packages in experimental until the end of the year 2005
- Release Debian etch with a working YaST2.
But hey, it's still Debian, so it's ready when it's ready.
Last but not least Stano his technical knowledge wherever he can - and on the
YaST2 mailing lists
(http://forge.novell.com/modules/xfmod/maillist/?group_id=1532 ;-).
This could be something to post on debian-devel or even debian-devel-announce
to attract even more people!?!
I wish you all a good day and lets get it on or so.
Mario
