Dear Beloved,
I am Hon. Mrs. Florence Abbas of Sao Tome & Principe, the Formal Minister
of Public Works, Infrastructure, Natural Resources, & Environment ,under the
Government of President Fradique de Menezes.
Acting in my capacity as minister of natural resources, during the bidding for
oil exploration rights in the gulf of guinea by several oil companies, I
assisted a particular company to obtain one of the licences.
After their bid succeeded, they gave me $18 Million in cash for my assistance.I
cannot introduce or circulate this amount into the banking system of my country
because this reasons.
1.My provisional duty as a minister allows me to earn less than $1000
equivalent of Dobra(our local currency)
2.Strict stipulations of the Bureau of conduct guidelines and regulations for
Public/Civil servants.
3.Due to the intense competition during the bidding for the oil exploration
licenses ,there are now investigations into how the whole process was handled
4.Further more, Groups of persons in the Government have ganged up against me,
with false allegations of an intention by me to contest the next presidential
elections.
That was why I Move this Fund to the Capital City of Benin Republic Cotonou in
One INTERNATIONAL BANK for safety and secured.
Presently I am in Cotonou for this purpose with my only Son, that is why I
contacted you for your co-operation to take delivery of the funds into your
Account for investment purposes.
25% of the entire funds will be apportioned to you for your efforts and
assistance I implore you to accord this transaction the confidentiality and
secrecy it deserves no matter what your decision may be.
Awaiting your response with urgency!
Regards.
Hon. Mrs. Florence Abbas.
Minister of Public Works, Infrastructure, Natural
Resources, & Environment,

Dear good friend,
?
How are you today? contact DHL Courier Service Company as soon as possible to know when they will deliver your fund to you because i have finalized all arrangement for delivering of the $1.2 million united state dollars in cash with DHL Courier Service Company.
?
The only money you have to send to? them to deliver the trunk box containing the fund direct to your home is ( $128 USD) only being Security Keeping Fee so far because i have paid for other fees, I would have paid that but because they don't know when you will contact them and in case of demorrage.
?
Contact? them now for the delivery of your trunk box with the following information;
Contact person: Mr Joseph Ugho
Email:? dhlpostal at w.cn
Phone: +2229-9639-8065
?
Also provide your Full Name, Postal Address, Direct telephone number and a Copy of your identity for proper identifications to avoid any mistake on the Delivery and ask them to give you the Deposit certificate for your prove of the deposit as i have paid for it. Try to contact them as soon as you receive this email to avoid any further delay and pay them their Security Keeping fee of ($128 USD) for their immediate action.
?
Note this. The? DHL Courier Service Company don't know the contents of the Box. I registered it as a BOX of Africa cloths. They don't know the real content is money. this is to avoid them delaying with the box. Don't let them know it contains money ok?.

Hi,
This is just a short heads-up for those planning to use Linux 2.6.31 on
the original Eee (and other 915GM systems).
The upstream i915 driver have a bug which will cause massive screen
flickering in X. Fortunately, there's already a patch available, but it
didn't make it for 2.6.31.
I filed bug 545377 for this, so hopefully the problem will be fixed
before 2.6.31 hits unstable.

Right.
And just today, with 2.6.31-rc9-git1, a bunch of changes to the i915
driver have been incorporated. And if I remember it right, this 3000ms
to 5000ms is part of the change we need...

Just another thing I think I have to report... After some recent Squeeze
updates, the sound hot-keys (fn+f7,f8,f9) no longer works.
I am not really sure which update caused this regression, because recent
updates on Squeeze is massive... It worked fine when I posted this
thread in August.
Thanks,
Vic

Dear list,
running `aptitude safe-upgrade` and upgrading for example
DebPkg:ifupdown I see a lot of the following messages.
insserv: warning: current stop runlevel(s) (0 1 6) of script `eeepc-acpi-scripts' overwrites defaults (empty).
Reading [1][2] I think the LSB headers of DebPkg:eeepc-acpi-scripts have
to be updated.
Should I file a bug report?
Thanks,
Paul

Removing the files doesn't work for file-rc. The only, proper, way to make
changes is by adding a 'update-rc.d -f script-name remove' call and then
the new update-rc.d call (which is usually dh_installinit's).

I am still amazed by your results. Almost three month have past since
you posted them and yesterday Linux kernel 2.6.31 was released and
DebPkg:readahead-fedora was packaged for Debian [1].
I would be very interested in getting your results with those changes,
if you have time.
Thanks,

Subject: [Debian-eeepc-devel] denbian lenny on asus 1101ha
Message-ID: <19117.4637.315834.417425@tutpro.com>
i installed yesterday debian lenny on asus 1101ha. here is a few notes
on what i did:
- i used normal lenny installation from usb memory stick by placing the
files on the stick as instructed in
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/ch04s03.html.en
- because wired ethernet and wlan hardware is not supported by lenny, i
attached an usb wlan adapted to another usb port and then booted
the installer from the stick in another usb port.
- i had a bit trouble with my usb wlan adapter, because it was not
supported by lenny installer either. this problem i got solved by
placing zd1211-firmware_2.21.0.0-0.1_all.deb on a second memory stick
and then installed the package with udpkg -i when lenny installer
started to complain about missing network hardware driver.
- forgot to mention that i started the installer in expert mode and
selected wireless tools to be included in the installation. that
allowed me to use iwconfig command to configure wlan essid. after
that, i brought wlan0 interface up with 'ip link set wlan0 up'
followed by 'dhclient wlan0'.
- after that i returned to installer and continued normally, but skipped
network configuration. if i remember correctly, i didn't need to do
anything else special during the installation and lenny rebooted
itself fine from hard disk.
- at this point i had lenny running on 1101ha without any native network
connectivity. i had to correct hostname and include lo interface due
to skipping network configuration during installation,
- wired ethernet i got working by compiling and installing atl1c module
from source AR81Family-linux-v1.0.0.10.tar.gz, which is available on
Atheros web site.
- wlan interface started to work, when i upgraded kernel to 2.6.30 from
lenny backport packages on backports.org.
- x11 i got working in 1366x768 mode by following instructions on this
page:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-laptop/2009/08/msg00031.html
but i didn't patch anything. instead, i installed grub2 packages from
debian unstable distribution, where 915resolution patches are already
included.
- alsa sound (including internal mic) i got working by installing
version 1.0.20 of alsa packages from debian testing.
that is how far i have got. i haven't had time to check function keys
or camera yet. i'm pretty satisfied with the result, because i didn't
need to force dpkg to do anything.
i realize that vesa based x11 is not efficient, but at this writing i
haven't heard of any clean way to install native GMA 500 (poulsbo)
xserver driver in lenny.

I was just catching up with this mailing list and read your mail. I had
not yet the change to test the readahead-fedora package and the 2.6.31
kernel has not yet made the unstable repository. I have some questions
for us all thou :D
Why is does the readahead-fedora need the manual interference of the
user to set the profile kernel option the fist time? Why can't the
kernel system take a command for one time?
I disable services with the following command example:
sudo update-rc.d -f ssh remove
But everytime the package of the init script is updated the service is
enabled again on boot. How do you all solve this? It driving me mad to
run my "disable unneeded services" script every few months?
Best regards,
Jelle

Nobody answered so far and I thought, I ask you directly instead
forwarding this to debian-user.
Could you add some information about this issue in the man page or the

The update-rc.d(8) manual page already got this section:
A common system administration error is to delete the links with the
thought that this will "disable" the service, i.e., that this will
prevent the service from being started. However, if all links have
been deleted then the next time the package is upgraded, the
package's postinst script will run update-rc.d again and this will
reinstall links at their factory default locations. The correct way
to disable services is to configure the service as stopped in all
runlevels in which it is started by default. In the System V init
system this means renaming the service's symbolic links from S to K.
Using "update-rc.d -f ssh remove" do not disable the service, it
delete the links.
What more did you propose to do?
There is also the experimental feature in sysv-rc, to let update-rc.d
do the disabling using "update-rc.d ssh disable". The API is not yet
final, and the feature is not implemented in file-rc, so do not expect
this to keep working in the future. :)
Happy hacking,

Hi
I dont know if this is the right place to post this (so I apologize if Im
wrong).
I have a Asus Eee 1101HA that I try to install DebianEee on.
I use the debian-eeepc.img (16MB) net-installer, but the installer does not
find any networking and can therefor not complete.
I have tryed other distros (Ubuntu, Mint,Suse and Mandrive) and noone gets
the network going :(
The Lan and WLan is working (Tryed in Windows).
What WiFi controller is in the 1101HA, and how do I get it working?
Will it soon be included as supported model?

Right. It uses atl1c for ethernet which is not supported until version
2.6.31 of the kernel, which was just released and is not yet in any
distro.
However, another user did get Debian working on this system earlier
this month. See:
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/debian-eeepc-devel/2009-September/002568.html
> What WiFi controller is in the 1101HA, and how do I get it working?

Actually, if you use a recent snapshot of the Debian installer for
Squeeze, I believe it should support wifi in this system, as Juha
reported the 2.6.30 kernel supports it.
However, the biggest issue will be getting Xorg to work with this, as
there is no Poulsbo driver for Debian. I have heard, however, that
there is an Ubuntu package of it and it can be made to work on Debian.
But really, Debian still needs a native solution for this.

Probably. But Juha, since you were successful, would you please
register an account on the wiki (if you haven't already) and link a new
page for Model 1101HA from http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEeePC/Models?
Just dump your notes into it.
However, there are a couple of points that probably should be edited:
1. you shouldn't need an external wifi dongle to install. instead, use
an installer with 2.6.30 which includes ath9k ... unfortunately there is
no WPA support yet in the http://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller kernel
snapshots (so if your wifi access point has WPA enabled, temporarily
disable it to do the install and re-enable it afterwards; this should
work fine)
2. you shouldn't need upstream's package to get atl1c working.
instead, use kernel 2.6.31 (available from dists/trunk from the
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianKernel team) ... unfortunately there is no
debian-installer image that uses this kernel yet, so you need to
install some other way and add the kernel after
We really need someone to write the whole process up step-by-step to
support these new machines (1005HA and 1008HA are similar). But even
if you just dump your notes into the 1101HA page and make these couple
of suggested edits, it's better than nothing.

You are right, I did not check the archives for this :( I am not sure if I
should wait for the next distro with kernel 2.6.31 or try to install with a
recent snapshot of the Debian installer for
Squeeze (Never tryed that before :) Sounds a bit difficult, but I think I
will give it a go.

i didn't find a debian lenny installer that includes 2.6.30 kernel. is
such a thing available in backport.org site or somewhere else?

you can go ahead with that. i'm currently very busy, but can resume

Sure, but wow, performance will hurt. :/
See http://bugs.debian.org/533450
Some progress has been made, but it looks like they still need help.

if you find debain installer with squeeze, you should be able to make
it.
on the other hand, what if we make atl1e.ko available for lenny 2.6.26
kernel? then regular lenny installer could be used by executing shell
and copying this .ko file to /lib/modules before continuing the
installation.

You mean atl1c, right?
No, I feel this is a step backwards. With the new models released
after Lenny, I really feel that we should make things work in Squeeze
first before we start worrying about Lenny backports. And even then, I
favour a whole kernel backport rather than trying to backport
individual modules from a newer kernel into an older one. There are
just so many benefits to the new kernel that I don't feel nursing
2.6.26 along is a wise use of our resources.

ok, that is fine with me. i just needed this thing to run lenny,
because i'm using it to build debian packages that must work on lenny
hosts.
what comes to squeeze and its 2.6.30 kernel, there should not be any
problems to include atl1c module in that kernel, because is can be build
by from source files provided by the vendor.

I would normally use a lenny chroot for that (e.g. pbuilder and
friends). That approach has the additional benefit of ensuring that
whatever you have installed on your box won't "taint" the build
environment or conceal build dependency problems, and therefore is
recommended over building packages on your own box anyway.

I'm hoping rather that it won't be too long before 2.6.31 goes into
squeeze, and then we won't have to bother with that.

Hey all,
Roughly what would be required to split up OSD notification for
wireless, volume, and S. H. Engine the way screen brightness is split
out in the config file? I realize that the reason for splitting out
brightness is different (we don't, to my knowledge, handle brightness),
but I've got a bit of an itch to split out S. H. Engine (I want that
notification but not everything else) and I figure once that's done the
rest shouldn't be much more difficult. Looking at the scripts that I
know use notify.sh as well as notify.sh itself, it looks as though the
cleanest way with the least potential for messing with current users'
setups would be to add separate entries in
/etc/default/eeepc-acpi-scripts for each function and wrap the calls to
notify.sh in if statements checking those entries. Is there anything
anyone can see against either the idea or the method (if there's a
better way, I'm all ears)? If not, I'll happily put a patch in to get
this out in the next version.

I am running an Asus EEEPC 1000HE. It uses Ralink wireless. When suspending to
RAM wireless comes back flawlessly on resume, and it toggles on, or off, as
it should. On suspend to disk, the state of the wireless is frozen in the
state it was in before suspend to disk. Pressing Fn-F2 does nothing.
Running "/etc/acpi/actions/wireless.sh toggle" as root does work, but the
Fn-F2 key remains disabled.
I am running Lenny with a 2.6.26-2 kernel and I access suspend to disk through
the Kpowersave package.

Hi! Interesting, I haven't heard anything like this before.
My first comment is that this is a relatively old kernel.
eeepc-laptop has improved in the meantime (and so have a few related
things). It may still be present in newer kernels, but I would be
very interested to hear your results on 2.6.31 (or the acpi-test tree
:-). I think the latest kernel from debian unstable is 2.6.30 - that
would not be quite as interesting, but still very useful to confirm
with.
Anyway, here are some questions you can answer without install new kernels:
Do you remove the battery and AC power while hibernated? I know that
has bad effects on the 701 hardware, although the symptoms are a bit
different.
What do you see if you run acpi_listen and press the wireless toggle
key twice? Before hibernation you should see this -
hotkey ATKD 00000010 ...
hotkey ATKD 00000010 ...
but I expect something different happens after hibernation.
Can you please send the output of "acpidump"? (You can install it
from the debian package of the same name. Run it as root and redirect
the output to a file).
Thanks!
Alan

I had similar prob on my 900 until I updated to latest kernel - 2.6.30.
I now use squeeze (rather than lenny + backports) which makes it a
bit easier to update kernel. It all works rather well.

Actually, no, that isn't it. It's that brightness change is
self-evident, so there is no reason to notify.
This project should work on mainstreaming its work more, not
differentiating more. Our OSD is a hack that fills a need that should
be filled in a more general way. When we looked at other OSD
notification systems, they did not fit with the desire to have a
minimal system (i.e. not depending on GNOME/KDE infrastructure). Until
a viable alternative appears, we do the minimum necessary to fill that
void. I would rather we not layer on more complexity here but keep the
feature set small and light. It is easy to give users more features,
but much harder to take them away. In an ideal world, the whole
eeepc-acpi-scripts package would not exist. There would be an OSD
solution that meets our needs and would work on any hardware.

Subject: [Debian-eeepc-devel] WLAN toggle fix for the 900A - how to figure
out the exact EeePC Model with a script?
Message-ID: <20090920170249.48871djwgvry1cm8@server>
Hi!
I finally found time to look into and fix the issues with WLAN toggle
on the EeePC 900a. This EeePC still needs the pciehp_force=1 switch
for the pciehp kernel module at least until Kernel 2.6.32 as it seems.
I now want to patch the /etc/init.d/eeepc-acpi-scripts file to use
pciehp_force as long as it resides on a 900A model. For that I
obviously have to figure out the exact EeePc model. I once saw a file
(in /proc or /sys I believe) that had the exact model in it but I am
currently unable to find it. Does anybody know where/how to read the
exact model? Did the EeePC specific kernel module(s) change so that
this file is no longer available? Any more information?
Thanks for any help!
Andreas

Thanks for looking at this. You're probably thinking of the directory
/sys/class/dmi/id.

How about sending dbus messages for a notification daemon?
Using dbus-send, while a bit hacky, would just mean to suggest: dbus
and notification-daemon (which is provided by various packages).
What I like of this approach is that it keeps OSD-style notifications
well integrated in the user environment, and put them in a consistent
style.

Actually, using notify-send from libnotify-bin would be much more
straightforward.

I was actually working on this a while ago and have some code for it.
(Actually it's specifically for Ubuntu's notify-osd, and has some bits
that are pretty specific to that.)
The problem I see with OSD in general is that it is too slow. It doesn't
feel responsive at all and it can lag far behind key-presses, especially
when keys are pressed rapidly or held down (as one might do when
adjusting volume). This is what caused me to stop bothering, as a
reasonable solution to this problem was not forthcoming. I thought about
optimizing the scripts (caching as much info as possible) and/or
eliminating the display of intermediate, already invalidated updates
(quite tricky to do, I think). This was all a bit much to undertake
alone, requiring significant structural changes that would be difficult
to get accepted, and frankly being of uncertain usefulness anyway.

Hi,
Seems like the sound hot-keys are back to normal after some recent
squeeze updates... Although the fn+f7 mute key works not quite right: it
changes the volume to 0 rather than mute it, so I can't unmute using the
same key, instead I have to use fn+f9 to increase the volume.
Another very important thing is that, fn+f5 turns on/off the external
monitor as expected since yesterday's update. I think it's because of
gnome-settings-daemon 2.24 -> 2.26, which also fixed the xrandr plugin
issue in Display panel.
Thanks,
Vic

I see, actually the notification-daemon lets you replace an already
existent notification easily, but not via notify-send, we would need a
python script or a small C/C++ program for that; and we would need to
keep the notification ID saved somewhere anyway.
It is not the easiest thing, you're right.
If storing a small file in /var/tmp would be considered acceptable, I
could write a python script (quick and easy) or a C++ program (I don't
know if I'll ever get through it) that takes care of that.
Cheers,
Luca

Subject: [Debian-eeepc-devel] WLAN toggle fix for 900A - how to submit a
patch
Message-ID: <20090923115630.351453znjfiurd0k@server>
Hi!
I have now changed the /etc/init.d/eeepc-acpi-scripts file to fix the
issues with WLAN toggle on the EeePC 900A. It now checks if it's
running on a 900A and does not unload the pciehp modue until kernel
version 2.6.32.
Since I have never submitted a patch to any project before I'd like to
get some advice on how to continue.
From what I have seen here, I suppose it is just fine to submit a
diff to this very list - is it? What eeepc-acpi-scripts version should
I use for the diff? The current 1.1.2 version or rather the latest
version in git. I never used git before but I think I will be able to
figure out that much at least.
I also have a more specific quesition about the diff. Are there any
commandline options required go tet a usuabe result? What to use best?
Thank you for any information,
Andreas

As far as I can remember most patches were sent against the Git HEAD.

I do not think so.
Please do not forget a changelog entry.
I hope that works. Thanks,

Subject: [Debian-eeepc-devel] WLAN toggle on 900A - here comes the patch
Message-ID: <20090923235459.17134vdevw5b8kkk@server>
Hello!
I have now changed /etc/init.d/eeepc-acpi-scripts to fix the issues
with WLAN toggle on the EeePC 900A. The fix is quite trivial, the
script now checks if it's running on a 900A and enables pciehp until
kernel verision 2.6.32. It has been tested on a 900A and does work as
expected.
A patch against the git-HEAD is included as provided by "git
format-patch". It inlcudes the changes in
/etc/init.d/eeepc-acpi-scripts and a description in the changelog file.
Please let me know if there is anything more I should provide or what
is still missing for patch inclusion. Since this is the first patch I
send in I more or less expect some "room for improvement"
So here is the patch-
regards,
Andreas

Thanks. The patch seems mangled by your mail client (leading space
missing on line 21). Can you try to send it as an attachment?

Bonjour,
- Servir de gardien,changement de b?n?ficiaire ;
- Fournir un compte pour le transfert de fonds ;
- M'aider ? le rejoindre dans son pays ;
- Poursuivre mes ?tudes ;
Mlle. Chanceline KABA

Hello,
I am Mr Salvador James. I am 45 years old and happily married with two
children. I am contacting you for you to assist me in my prospective
investment in your country. I have decided to invest outside the shores of my
country for the future of my two children (a boy and a girl). This is the

Bonjour,

I am Barrister Alex Gardon a Legal practitioner to the Gardons law Chambers, situated at London-United Kingdom. I am the personal attorney to late Mr. DAVID a national of your country, who used to work with Chevron Oil Company in London, Here in after shall be referred to as my client. On the 21st of April 2006, my client slumped in his office after hearing that his only daughter died in a plain crash when she was come back for summer but he was taking to the hospital but he could not make it.
Since then that he died his only brother has been taking care of his investment both his two houses that is on rent and his supermarket, I decided to contact you is because right now as I am writing you his two house has been confiscated buy the Uk Government and His supermarket because they have gotten to find out that during his administration he looted a lot of money from the company.
I have seen you to be a honest person and some one who will not like a national of his country to be hot this way because his brother has run away knowing what is on ground and no wear to be found since 2 years now and I have been arrested for up to 4 times because I was his barrister during his administration so they said that I must know where he lodged some amount of money that is been looked for in the company.
I have contacted you to assist in repatriating a huge fund that was transferred in a reputable bank last 3 month before his death and no body knows about it but me before it gets confiscated by the Uk Government.
Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over 2 years now, I seek the consent to claim the money since he did not open the account with his real name and I am not allowed to move out but can only contact you by mail or when I am opportune to call you.
I have all the necessary information and legal documents needed to back you up for claim. All I require from you is your honest cooperation to enable us see this transaction through I guarantee that this will be executed under legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any breach of the law.
Best regards,
Bar Alex Gardon.

Gary Rich, here with a quick update on Nopalea:
IMPORTANT! TriVita has just launched a brand new product called Nopalea.
It is an exciting new wellness drink that will:
* Protect Against Premature Aging
* Detoxify the Body
* Reduce Inflammation
* Promote Optimal Cellular Health "> It is projected to be TriVita's
First Billion Dollar Product.? With the launch, TriVita has started a new
Share and Earn compensation plan just for this product.? It pays a true
70% payout for the first 90 days for each new member you bring in.? After
90 days it reverts back to the original TriVita compensation plan. The
first 90 days of each new member you bring in will earn you 30%... Second
level 15%...Third level 10%. The remaining 15% is distributed to Directors
and above.
To join TriVita with the Sonoran Bloom Share and Earn model costs just a
ONE TIME $35, then one bottle of? Nopalea on autoship for only $39.95 a
month plus shipping and handling qualifies you for the Share and Earn
compensation plan. You will be in TriVita and will be able to participate
in the MAP cooperative marketing model if you so desire.
To view the Sonoran Bloom model please go here:

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Gary Rich

PS: ?On Sept 8, the new Nopalea TV infomercial started airing.? It will
bring in new Affiliates, as well as new customers.
So, we will also be able to "purchase" business builders to add to our
group due to TriVita's media efforts.
And guess what?
Those new Affiliates will grow their businesses the same way....by
"buying" Affiliates of their own
from the company......etc, etc, etc!!
If you are "Share and Earn" qualified ($35 for the kit, and one bottle of
Nopalea on autoship), you can buy Nopalea customers.
And if you then personally sponsor 2 Share and Earn qualified AM's, you
will be able to buy Nopalea Affiliates to place
into your organization!!
What is so great about Nopalea, you may ask?
Go here to check it out....

And here is how it is helping people......

Any questions, please let me know.
It would be great to have you on our team!!
