When I removed all my libgnomeprint* packages I can confirm that
it actually reintroduces #392219. :-(
It's a shame that I was too quick here.
What do you think is the better apporach: Reopening #392219 or
redoing the change and reopening #542579 ? From a users perspective
a *working* printing system is the better solution IMHO so reverting
my change sounds more reasonable.
I'll be offline the next couple of hours so feel free to do whatever
you feel reasonable ... and sorry for the hassle I have caused.
Kind regards
Andreas.

Hi Andreas,
bug not fixed, actually, since you can't use ?|| defined(foo)? in an
?#ifdef bar? line. That would rather be:
?#if defined(bar) || defined(foo)? as mentioned in my initial patch.
Updated patch attached, fixing the FTBFS.
Mraw,
KiBi.

Et voil? :)
I had to disable the tests to correctly build the package: on systems without
Java, the suite apparently does not recognise well that the Eponine program is
not there. I will report this bug upstream.
The package may take a day or two to reach your favorite mirrors. If you need
it for an urgent task, you can either build it yourself using the debcheckout
tool of the devscripts package, or more simply just tell me to send it to you
by email.
Have a nice day.
PS: maybe we crossed without knowing in the Illkirch cafeteria? I was preparing
a Ph. D. at IGBMC while you were sudent at the ESBS.

Dear Beloved,
I am Hon. Mrs. Florence Abbas of Sao Tome & Principe, the Formal Minister
of Public Works, Infrastructure, Natural Resources, & Environment ,under the
Government of President Fradique de Menezes.
Acting in my capacity as minister of natural resources, during the bidding for
oil exploration rights in the gulf of guinea by several oil companies, I
assisted a particular company to obtain one of the licences.
After their bid succeeded, they gave me $18 Million in cash for my assistance.I
cannot introduce or circulate this amount into the banking system of my country
because this reasons.
1.My provisional duty as a minister allows me to earn less than $1000
equivalent of Dobra(our local currency)
2.Strict stipulations of the Bureau of conduct guidelines and regulations for
Public/Civil servants.
3.Due to the intense competition during the bidding for the oil exploration
licenses ,there are now investigations into how the whole process was handled
4.Further more, Groups of persons in the Government have ganged up against me,
with false allegations of an intention by me to contest the next presidential
elections.
That was why I Move this Fund to the Capital City of Benin Republic Cotonou in
One INTERNATIONAL BANK for safety and secured.
Presently I am in Cotonou for this purpose with my only Son, that is why I
contacted you for your co-operation to take delivery of the funds into your
Account for investment purposes.
25% of the entire funds will be apportioned to you for your efforts and
assistance I implore you to accord this transaction the confidentiality and
secrecy it deserves no matter what your decision may be.
Awaiting your response with urgency!
Regards.
Hon. Mrs. Florence Abbas.
Minister of Public Works, Infrastructure, Natural
Resources, & Environment,
Sao Tome & Principe.

with -fPIC.
Message-ID: <20090904064342.31154.83842.reportbug@anx178.gsc.riken.jp>
Package: samtools
Version: 0.1.5c-2
Severity: serious
This package is compiled with -fPIC in order to enable building of
libbio-samtools-perl, which will soon be submitted to our archive.
After discussion on debian-devel at l.d.o, several developers raised
concerns about the security implications of building against static
libraries. I therefore open this bug to prevent the migration of
samtools to testing until a shared version of libbam is released, in
order to avoid causing problems to the release and security teams.

Dear good friend,
?
How are you today? contact DHL Courier Service Company as soon as possible to know when they will deliver your fund to you because i have finalized all arrangement for delivering of the $1.2 million united state dollars in cash with DHL Courier Service Company.
?
The only money you have to send to? them to deliver the trunk box containing the fund direct to your home is ( $128 USD) only being Security Keeping Fee so far because i have paid for other fees, I would have paid that but because they don't know when you will contact them and in case of demorrage.
?
Contact? them now for the delivery of your trunk box with the following information;
Contact person: Mr Joseph Ugho
Email:? dhlpostal at w.cn
Phone: +2229-9639-8065
?
Also provide your Full Name, Postal Address, Direct telephone number and a Copy of your identity for proper identifications to avoid any mistake on the Delivery and ask them to give you the Deposit certificate for your prove of the deposit as i have paid for it. Try to contact them as soon as you receive this email to avoid any further delay and pay them their Security Keeping fee of ($128 USD) for their immediate action.
?
Note this. The? DHL Courier Service Company don't know the contents of the Box. I registered it as a BOX of Africa cloths. They don't know the real content is money. this is to avoid them delaying with the box. Don't let them know it contains money ok?.
?
Best regards,
Mr John Monti

Subject: [Debian-med-packaging] Versioning of phyml
Message-ID: <20090908072721.GA26355@an3as.eu>
Hi,
I realised that Debian package of phyml is versioned according to the
release date but the code contains some kind of versioning:
$ grep VERSION src/utilities.h
#define VERSION "v3.0_176:178M"
The homepage also says PhyML 3.0. On the other hand the download page[1]
also has this date based versioning. I'd regard this a bit unconventional
and I would consider it more transparent to use a 3.0.? versioning scheme.
It is not a really important issue but I stumbled upon this when dealing
with arb which ships a copy of the code containing a string
#define VERSION "v2.4.5"
and I was wondering about the relation to our phyml Debian package.
Kind regards and thanks for providing phyml
Andreas.

I personally regard git as a very reasonable tool and probably a good
alternative to use in Debian Med. My *very* *personal* problem is that
I do not see that it increased my productivity (rather the contrary
because I have to spend time into learning) because I currently see no
constraints for my work in using SVN.
But at some point in time you have to adopt to new tools and I'm willing
to learn if we find a smooth migration process. I personally will *not*
become active in this but I would welcome if some people perhaps start
enhancing our policy / packaging documents and give clear advises what
to do.
Kind regards
Andreas.

Hi all,
I have just requested the creation of a debian-med directory on git.debian.org
to the Alioth admins. I will let everybody know on the debian-med mailing list
when it will be set up.
Cheers,

I missed the discussion. So we are moving to git and dropping svn completely ?

Package: dicom3tools
Version: 1.0~20090716-1
Severity: important
Justification: fails to build from source
dicom3tools fails to build on buildd system (chroot). Error is:
nawk -f ../../.././libsrc/support/strval.awk \
role=declare outname=strvalc <../../.././libsrc/standard/strval.tpl >strvalc.h
nawk: cannot open "/dev/tty" for output (No such device or address)
make[5]: *** [strvalc.h] Error 2
Indeed the problem is that every errors are not send directly to stderrr, but instead to tty, see for example:
http://www.gnu.org/manual/gawk/html_node/Special-FD.html
So for example, it looks ok from a running system to have:
$ nawk -f ../../.././libsrc/support/strval.awk role=declare outname=strvalc < ../../.././libsrc/standard/strval.tpl > strvalc.h
Line 879: error - no group name:

Line 1346: error - no group name:

but really the error are send to tty and not stderr.

Because of the static of this transaction I want you to stand as the next of kin so that our bank will accord you therecognition and have the fund transfer to your account.

I'd rather say provide git as an option and suggest to use git. You can
not force people to immediatela change their workflow completely. As I
said: I agree that git is a really good tool but I do not miss anything
in SVN and learning git just consumes my time without an immediate
effect.
Kind regards
Andreas.

Dear Shaun,
thank you for the report. I plan to update the package early next week (I am
leaving for a short vacation in one hour or two).
After this I will upload the Bio::SamTools Perl module. Do not hesitate to suggest

Thing there is love. I am waiting for your mail and a brief information about you.
I believe we can start from here. awaiting to hear from you soon so I can send pics for more introductions.

Subject: [Debian-med-packaging] PROPOSAL.
Message-ID: <20090917133531.d438c96a@motat.pt>
Dear Friend
My name is Fredrick Mbong, a banker based in Ghana.I am reaching out to
you in respect of an opportunity that will be beneficial to both of us. I
want you and I to make some fortune out of a situation that I am obviously left
with no other better option. I apologize if contacting you through this medium
does not suit your business or personal ethics. Though I have not considered
this medium to be the best manner to have approached you on this issue being
that the internet has been greatly abused over the recent years and is much
unsecured for information of vital importance. I have decided to take
the chance seeing that no other means could have been faster and more
efficient than the e-mail. I write to you irrespective of the fact that we do not
know ourselves. I am soliciting your assistance in repatriating the funds
left behind by my late client before it is declared unserviceable by the Bank
where the huge deposit is lodged.
My Client who is an American died couple of years ago and every attempt
to trace any member of his extended family has proved unsuccessful as he
died with his wife and only daughter Karin in a fatal auto crash. Do note that
your identity or country of origin does not matter. I will simply present you
as my client's business partner and the fund was meant for a joint venture
between you and my late client. I will give you more information upon your
response.
If this proposal is acceptable to you, kindly email your following
information to me: (1). Private Telephone and fax numbers. (2). Your postal/residential
address. (3). Identification. (4) Occupation.
I humbly look forward to your soonest response.
Yours Faithfully,
Mr. Fredrick Mbong.

Subject: [Debian-med-packaging] downloading gdcmtar binary
Message-ID:
Hello,
I am interested in using the gdcmtar binary to expand an enhanced
multiframe DICOM file into multiple DICOM files. I have downloaded gdcm
and built this on my Linux system, but the gdcmtar program does not seem
to be functioning properly. I noticed that gdcminfo also was not
functioning properly. Is there a site where I can download these
pre-compiled binaries?
Thank you for your support.

Subject: [Debian-med-packaging] bioperl Debian dependencies
Message-ID: <4AB2D5D5.2030705@ucdavis.edu>
Hello friendly package maintainers:
I just installed bioperl to get started with this wonderful library.
While trying out the first getting-started script from
http://www.bioperl.org/wiki/Bptutorial.pl (see below), I realized that
the perl library Data::Stag.pm wasn't installed.
Since there is a debian package (libdata-stag-perl) that provides this
library, I am wondering if it would make sense to add it to the deps of
bioperl.
Cheers,
Daniel
PS the example is the following:
use Bio::Perl;
# this script will only work if you have an internet connection on the
# computer you're using, the databases you can get sequences from
# are 'swiss', 'genbank', 'genpept', 'embl', and 'refseq'
$seq_object = get_sequence('swiss',"ROA1_HUMAN");
write_sequence(">roa1.fasta",'fasta',$seq_object);

Hello Daniel,
actually this is a bug in the package! I will upload an update this weekend to
correct this.
