sure you will CC: 674226 at bugs.debian.org  to keep others informed.
Otherwise my guess is that ball will be removed from wheezy.

That's already being discussed as #685209; it'd make sense to keep the
discussion there.

The discussion in the other report implied that some of the larger
fixes weren't specifically related to the build problem, but
functionality issues (which weren't mentioned in the changelog).  At
first glance, some of the fixes also looked like they might introduce
ABI breaks, which isn't great given libball{,view} are shipped as
public versioned shared libraries.  But I digress, at least in this
report.
