I have found this related problem:

Newer libxml releases are more strict
and do not allow attributes named "xmlns". Which is explicitly
forbiden by XSLT specification.

    http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt#creating-attributes


So upstream should update its code to have compliant files. As those are
only tests, I suppose we could safely remove those tests in the
meanwhile, waiting for upstream fix.
