[Debian-med-packaging] Dropping to a shell on failed build

Hi all,

Is there some way that one can drop to a bash shell upon failure of a build?
For debugging's sake, it would be great to inspect the build environment of a
pbuilder as it was at the point when the build failed. Then I could e.g. try
finding a missing file or see which directory something is actually in.

Immediately, this is to help with debugging a python package build that uses
pybuild, and the magic that it uses is quite opaque to me.
