There are a lot of old and unsupported parts of the Staden Package (eg
that eba tool), so it doesn't suprise me newer compiler options throw
up warnings.  I assume this is now an issue due to -Werror=format-security.

The append_int function is entirely my fault though and recent.
Sorry.

I should go through the package with a modern gcc and stress test it
locally.  I can't support the old legacy bits, but at the very least
they should be able to compile.
