Well, I'm not the maintainer of libxml2, but a patch is attached.
However, I did not test for any regression. This just changes the build
files to compile with libxml2, which it fortunately does. I did not test
if it still behaves as expected.

Run autoreconf to update the build files or apply the attached debdiff.
