If I understand correctly your bug report, either when using libxml2
2.7.4.dfsg-1 or 2.7.3.dfsg-2.1, virt-manager fails for you, right?

This sounds like your may have some other (old) libxml2.so.2 file
getting in the way. Can you send the output for the following command:
ldd /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/libxml2mod.so
