[Lilo-test] booting OS/2 via lilo

Trying to boot OS/2 from Linux I have extarcted an ancient os2_d.b from 
a redhat lilo package.
Why is the os2d_b not distributed with the regular lilo?
However still; that did not work:

other=/dev/sda2
loader=/boot/os2_d.b
label=OS/2

it simply hangs without a crash booting this; nothing is displayed on 
the screen; not even a clear screen is performed.
Why can I not simply copy OS2LDR from the given partition and let it be 
executed manually?
