from the net snmp library itself.
there may probably be an init option to bypass that... if you find it,
please point us.

BTW. Where could I enable logging? :-) (version 2.6.0)

through the upslog daemon
or at compile time for the default syslog() level, and/or in
/etc/syslog.conf, /etc/rsyslog.conf, ...
