Package: alsa-source
Version: 0.9.8-1
Severity: normal

Hi there.

I'm having major difficulty getting my rear/center and LFE channels to run under the debian alsa packages.
The output of amixer show no rear channel entries, and trying aplay -D rear test.wav fails with

ALSA lib pcm.c:1785:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Invalid type for PCM rear definition (id: rear, value: cards.pcm.rear)
aplay: main:503: audio open error: Invalid argument

Trying the center_lfe channels delivers the same sort of error, in fact only the front channels work.

The codec on this board is a Realtek ALC 650 rev 3 andappears to be both recognised and supported ( at least
the PCI ids are in the source, and there is explicit mention of nForce2 boards there).

Any suggestions as to how to go about fixing this?

Cheers,
Eamonn

I am closing bug reports against alsa-source that are more than one year
old and that relate to upstream aspects of the package. The reports are
too old to be of any use now.
