Thanks. I've turned the patch into an upstream merge request :)

Does this bug break Quake III Arena and other applications that use
OpenAL, or does it "just" make spatialization of sound worse in that
context? If the former, happy to apply via debian/patches. If the
former, this will wait for the next upstream release.
