Well, fsck, I *know* why it did not show during my testing:

I used dpkg directly and must have always had the packages in the right
order, so that bacula-director-common got extracted _before_
bacula-director-mysql. This of course masks this obvious error.

Gnrgh, how embarrassing.

Even more embarrassing as I specificly tested for exactly this error
type. And failed miserably.

Note to self: always use a local mini-dinstall repository when testing
package upgrades, don't ever rely on calling just "dpkg -i".
