[Pkg-cyrus-sasl2-debian-devel] Progress report

Hi everyone!

I'm making slow progress on the SASL package. So far, the thing more or
less builds and I've carried over some basic material from the old
package. There's more of that to be done still, and I've committed stuff
that is not well tested just to get to the point where more people can
do something, even small things.

Even if the package is not in a state where we can try to build other
software against it, I think this would be a good time for everyone else
to start looking at the package. Please just check out the SVN repo and
fix small things on your own. I think we should be liberal in the SVN
right now and not wait to get confirmation for the obvious stuff. There
are plenty of small things that have creeped past my eyes. This can be a
fun way of getting to know the package, tuning your build system, all
while laughing at my mistakes :)

For the bigger issues, I'd like us to tackle them more or less one by
one, having short discussions on this list. This starts with getting the
build-deps more or less settled, and moves towards having versioned
symbols done right, and then onwards to proper upgrade support from old
cyrus-sasl2 and testing the code for reentrancy and stability issues.

So that's a rough roadmap which I'll be following as long as it's
sensible...

The next step is work. :) If you need SVN access, email me your alioth
userid.
