But, why the hell do they not include this in the distributed
tarball?

That will make the packaging work much more painful as we would have
to manually add the *.sfd and Makefile files to the .ori.tar.gz
tarball and therefore derive the upstream version numbering. Weird.

I think we should report the lack of source as a bug against the
upstream tarballs, in upstream's BTS.
