# dpkg -L fonttools | grep bin
/usr/bin
/usr/bin/fonttools
/usr/bin/pyftinspect
/usr/bin/pyftmerge
/usr/bin/pyftsubset
/usr/bin/ttx

I don't see how this qualifies as "for transitional purposes". The module
does indeed need to split out, though. I just saw there's
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=877165 already for this.

I can imagine it being used as binary, too. For my case it's used as a
library. (but it's already ported to python3, thanks to Mattia Rizzolo)
