Bug#253040: Putting a loopback device in place also solves the problem for me

Yes that was it, after I created a loopbackdevice everything worked as
expected - thank you. But I think this is a bug anyway because the
loopbackdevice should be created automatically if it is needed by gnome.
In fact Mozilla also wont work if there is no loopbackdevice (bug
#253123 resolved with version 1.7) may be we it should be a bug against
netbase.
