Well, I created a new user, and it worked fine there. Also, wasabi on 
#gnome-debian said it worked fine for him. Then I tested it on my laptop 
and it works there as well. So I went back to my account and wiped 
.gnome, .gnome2, .gnome_private, .gnome2_private, .gconf, and .gconf2 
from my homedir and logged out and logged back in... and the problem 
still persists. Is there another configuration directory I am missing 
here that I need to reset?
