Hi, there's a simple workaround to start Xfce4. Just edit the /etc/dm/Sessions/default.desktop changing "Exec=default" to "Exec=custom". This way gdm should exec your ~/.xsession, so you ony have to put "exec /etc/gdm/Sessions/Xfce4" in it. Greetings, Chris.
