Bug#288259: gnome-panel: Can't read transparent clock time

This wouldn't really be a bug I guess, but since it worked in previous
version, I think it is one: When I upgraded gnome applets the last time,
the time on the taskbar simply disappeared. Apparently, what happened
is, it was made to have a transparent background (which I would very
welcome, if the other applets would do the same). But now, I have a
black desktop, and the panels set to completely transparent. Other gnome
applets (volume, window list, workspace switcher, window selector,
system monitor, netspeed, wheather, mail notification...) all are a
button in the standard gnome theme, with text in the standard font. Just
the clock got transparent, and I can't read it anymore.

My suggested fix would be, allow to choose the color of the clock text,
but leave it on transparent background. And also make all other applets
(optionally) transparent, to have a more unified look.
