Package: libgnomevfs2-0
Version: 2.8.3-8
Severity: normal

Sorry if this bug is not specific to libgnomevfs2-0, but I suspect
this component to be responsible for handling and caching of files.

MP3-files from Samba shares accessed by Nautilus cannot be played,
e.g. by XMMS or KDE-players (when dragged into). The file informations
are accessible to the application, ie. are displayed, but by hitting
the play button nothings really going on.

Other filetypes on the same share like graphics are immediately opened
by the chosen application (eog).

The setup of Samba, XMMS and other components are supposed to work
correctly, since dragging files out of KDE's konqueror from the same
share into XMMS works well. The files get played.

The machine uses exclusively Debian TESTING with kernel 2.4.27 and
libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20.

Thanks in advance,
/Markus

This has nothing to do with mp3's or not. Your mp3 players get the uri of the
mp3 you just dragged, but can't handle them.. eog on the other hand can handle
those uri's (because it also uses gnome-vfs), so it has no problem opening
them.
