My guess is that you have a large and/or high resolution display.

I think there are two ways to approach fixing this.=20

First, you could start X with the correct dpi setting for your monitor
by editing /etc/gdm/gdm.conf - look for the [server-Standard] section
and edit the "command=3D" line so that it includes something like=20
"-dpi 110" (or whatever your actual dpi is).=20

Alternatively, I think it is possible to specify your monitor's
physical dimensions in XF86Config-4 so they it can correctly work out
the dpi for itself. This is probably the best solution, but it is more
of an X bug than a gdm bug.


The second approach would be to find some way to modify the gconf
settings for the gdm user that gdm runs as; you could then specify the
screen dpi, or just set a big font for the gdm user... I think one of
the previous methods would be better though.
